Jacob Buchan ist Prosaautor, die Erzählung basiert auf autobiografischen Erfahrungen mit seiner Mutter, die als Mengeles Sekretärin in Auschwitz arbeiten musste. Hadar Galron hat die Bühnenfassung geschrieben. Sie ist eine erfahrene israelische Dramatikerin, die zahlreiche Theaterstücke veröffentlicht und zumeist selbst inszeniert hat; zudem arbeitet sie als Schauspielerin und unterrichtet an Schauspielschulen.
Jacob Buchan is a prose writer, the story is based on autobiographical experiences with his mother, who had to work as Mengele’s secretary in Auschwitz. Hadar Galron wrote the stage version. She is an experienced Israeli playwright who has published numerous plays and directed most of them herself; she also works as an actress and teaches at drama schools.
Das Stück / The play
Der Monolog für eine Schauspielerin handelt von Tami, Tochter von Shoah-Überlebenden, die ein Leben lang unter dem Trauma der Eltern gelitten hat. Nun ist sie 45, ihr Mann verstorben, und zum ersten Mal sucht sie nach einem Weg, ihr Leben zu finden. Auf eindrückliche Weise verhandelt das Stück Fragen des transgenerationellen Traumas und wie sich die Erzählungen und Bilder der Shoah in den Lebenswegen der zweiten Generation weiter auswirken.
The monologue for an actress is about Tami, the daughter of Shoah survivors, who has suffered from her parents‘ trauma all her life. Now she is 45, her husband has died, and for the first time she is looking for a way to find her life. In an impressive way, the play deals with questions of transgenerational trauma and how the stories and images of the Shoah continue to affect the lives of the second generation.
